As executive vice president of the Walmart U.S. food division, Charles Redfield is responsible for the overall strategy, assortment, private brands and sourcing for food categories. Since assuming the role in 2015, Redfield and his team have delivered the strongest comparable sales performance in more than five years. Redfield joined Walmart as a cashier at Sam’s Club in 1988 while attending college and began his full-time career as an assistant manager with Sam’s Club, progressing into leadership roles. He briefly left Sam’s Club to work for Hudson's Bay, returning in 1999 as a director of operations. Redfield's other executive positions include chief merchandising officer of ASDA, a Walmart subsidiary in the U.K., and executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Sam’s Club.
